A Year of Triumph: Belvoir’s 2023 Achievements

With the release of our 2023 Annual Report this week, we can reflect on the past year, and stand proud, having achieved remarkable milestones last year. From captivating productions to expanding our reach, we are very pleased to announce a modest financial surplus. Here’s a comprehensive summary of our accomplishments and a look forward to the future.

Belvoir’s 2023 season was extraordinary. We staged ten Mainstage productions and seven shows in our Downstairs theatre as part of the 25A program for independent theatre-makers. Extending our reach, we conducted two national tours, covering eight cities and towns. We collaborated with Sydney Festival and Sydney World Pride, highlighting our dedication to supporting the broader cultural sector.

Despite the lingering effects of the pandemic, we are reporting a modest surplus of $27,000 for 2023. Our box office revenue surpassed $4 million for the first time since 2019, thanks to the unwavering support of our audiences, donors, and government partners. This financial health allows us to continue delivering exceptional theatre experiences.

Our successes are a testament to the dedication of the Belvoir staff, from production to customer service, finance, development, education, marketing, and our artistic and producing teams. Special thanks to the Belvoir Board of Directors and our government funders for their ongoing support. We are also grateful for the contributions of outgoing board members and welcome new board directors who will steer us through the next era.

Belvoir’s 2023 achievements reflect our resilience, creativity, and commitment to the arts. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional experiences in 2024.
