This brilliant re-imagining of an ancient tale has played to great success in Paris, Germany, The Netherlands, Sydney and Melbourne and now it returns for a new life at the Adelaide Festival.

It is the most infamous of all the ancients – the story of the deposed king whose sons were slaughtered and served to him by his brother in a feast. The starting point for this new version: THESE MYTHS ARE REAL. The action of the show, much like our lives, takes place in the banalities and ordinarinesses between atrocities. Featuring three extraordinary performances, the result is truly groundbreaking – gentle, disturbing, funny, beautiful and chilling in 90 minutes.

Belvoir acknowledges the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Andrew Cameron Family Foundation, Mark Carnegie and Jessica Block.
Thyestes was originally created by THE HAYLOFT PROJECT and was a Malthouse Theatre commission.
