An intimate pop-up residency featuring Australia’s ARIA chart-topping soul powerhouse

ARIA No. 1 artist Meg Mac brings her extraordinary voice to Belvoir Street Theatre for three exclusive Monday night performances, offering audiences an exclusive journey through her catalogue including a first listen to material from the forthcoming album, ‘It’s My Party’.

Trading the traditional concert hall for our intimate theatrical setting, these special performances will present Meg in a completely new light through a carefully crafted blend of music, storytelling, and environment. In collaboration with award-winning director and lighting designer Alexander Berlage, the shows promise Meg’s most personal and intimate performances yet.

The residency coincides with the release of her compelling new single ‘He Said No’ – an exploration of heartbreak and departure that marks the first glimpse of the forthcoming album. The track, born from an unexpected creative process with producer Nathan Jenkins (Bullion), captures the perspective of someone left behind at an airport departure, drawing inspiration from John Denver‘s timeless ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’.

Since her breakthrough with 2014’s ‘MEGMAC’ EP, Meg Mac has established herself as Australia’s premier pop soul voice. Her journey peaked with 2022’s ‘Matter of Time’, which claimed the ARIA No. 1 position, while her 2015 anthem ‘Never Be’ reached the ARIA top 40 and claimed No. 11 on Triple J’s Hottest 100. Her commanding vocal presence has earned international recognition, with recent touring highlights including sold-out national tours and supporting Teddy Swims across Australia (2024), Jacob Banks throughout North America (2022), and Sam Smith on their ‘Gloria’ tour of Australia and New Zealand (2023).

These three Monday night performances offer theatre-goers a rare opportunity to experience one of Australia’s most celebrated recording artists in Belvoir’s unique intimate atmosphere, where every seat offers an up-close encounter with her remarkable artistry.
