Wayside Bride is the latest verbatim play in Alana Valentine‘s contribution to our cultural landscape, reflecting the world of the past, present and future and, sharing the lives of real people and immortalising stories of communities. This time, visiting Sydney in the seventies –introducing the misfits and visionaries of the Wayside Chapel.

This powerful work will provide your students with a tangible and engaging insight into the world of verbatim performance, live on stage, connecting them to Valentine’s work.

Wayside Bride goes for the heart and explores the power of community, for those who don’t, or can’t, fit – and the Australian who made a space for them. In what the co-directors, Eamon Flack and Hannah Goodwin describe as “Verbatim meets Dorothy in Wizard of Oz“. Students will be captivated by the magical realism connecting a new audience to local history – the stories of Rev Ted Noffs and the Wayside Chapel.

This live event will not be recorded.
