Have you seen the extraordinary new mural in our foyer? It’s titled ‘Pathways That Lead Us Here’ and was designed & produced by mother and son Vicki and Dennis Golding.

This collaboration highlights the artist’s history of how their family moved from Biripi and Kamilaroi Country to live in Redfern’s ‘The Block’ from the late 1960s. It also recognises how many Indigenous people, and their families, move across the country for work, education and connection with community.

The mural depicts a bloodline that travels across the foyer walls, allowing audiences to follow a pathway to the theatre doors. While this pathway highlights the unbroken connections of family and culture, it also acknowledges the Country we are on — the land of the Gadigal people, and their neighbouring clans between the mountains and the coastlines of Sydney. The black elements outline different environments that form mountains, waterways and swirls, meeting grounds and pathways that have existed long before colonisation.

The mural resonates with all who meet on this site as their paths have led them here to listen, learn and share stories on this beautiful Country.
