In 2022, Belvoir is holding general auditions to meet with actors who are new to the company. We are not auditioning for particular roles, instead general auditions are an opportunity for actors to connect with Belvoir and the Belvoir Artistic Team for consideration across our seasons and development pipeline.

We’re looking for actors who:

  • are over 18 years of age;
  • have at least three years of training or three years of acting experience outside of high school drama activities. This could be in stage or screen;
  • have not been employed as an actor in a mainstage Belvoir show; and
  • are based primarily in NSW and are able to make it to an in-person audition on the dates specified below.

General auditions are an open process where we will see as many actors as possible but given the restrictions of time and resources, please note that not all applicants will be guaranteed an audition slot. If you have worked on a mainstage theatre in Sydney it is likely we’ll have seen your work so do not be disheartened if we don’t call you in.

Belvoir welcomes and encourages First Nations, Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse, d/Deaf or hard of hearing, Disabled, Neurodiverse, and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTIQA+) artists to apply for our general auditions.

We are only accepting personal submissions for general auditions. Agents may refer their clients to apply as individuals.

What you’ll be asked to prepare

If your application is successful, you will be asked to prepare TWO monologues –

ONE monologue from the Belvoir package of pieces,

And ONE monologue of your own choice no more than TWO MINUTES in length. We advise that you select a monologue from theatre as opposed to screen.

Please make your selection from the Belvoir package based on the material that feels most relevant to you and your artistry. Packages will be sent with an offer to audition.

What to expect

The audition is a short session and a chance for us to get a sense of your work and who you are as an artist.

It’s also a chance for you to meet some of our Artistic & Programming team members.

Running our auditions are Resident Directors Carissa Licciardello & Hannah Goodwin, Andrew Cameron Fellow Abbie-lee Lewis and Balnaves Fellow Thomas Weatherall. There will be at least two of us in each audition.

We’ll start by having a quick chat to introduce ourselves and get to know you.

Then we’ll ask you to present your first monologue from the Belvoir selection. We may ask to see the monologue one or two more times and give you direction.

If time permits, we may ask you to present your second monologue to finish the session. Please prepare one sentence that contextualises the piece for us.

We ask that you prepare in detail, however if you need to have your script in hand you can.

Applications close midnight, Sunday 13th November 2022.

Applications are now closed.
