MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE

Belvoir Workshop Fire: How You Can Help

Yesterday, Belvoir’s production and storage workshop in Marrickville was destroyed by fire. The cause is not yet known.

Most importantly, all of our workshop and production staff are safe.

This is a significant loss for Belvoir. The workshop was where we built future productions, stored elements of past shows, and brought ambitious ideas to life. A sign made by our Construction Manager, Daz, hung on the workshop wall and captured the spirit of the space:

Making the Impossible Possible.

Losing that space is devastating, but our focus now is on supporting our people, assessing the impact on our productions and equipment, and finding a path forward.

We remain determined to ensure our upcoming seasons of The Jungle and the Sea and The Book of Everything goes ahead as planned while we work through the practical implications of the fire.

How You Can Support Belvoir

If you would like to help, the most meaningful ways are:

  • Buy a ticket to an upcoming performance
  • Become a season ticket holder
  • Make a tax-deductible donation

Every contribution helps sustain this four-decades-long undertaking and supports the artists, craftspeople and staff who bring Belvoir’s productions to life.

Physical Donations

We have been touched by offers of practical support from our community. We are currently accepting expressions of interest for donations of workshop equipment, materials and production resources. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact our Head of Production, Tristan Ellis-Windsor, ([email protected]) to discuss suitability and drop-off arrangements.

Examples of items that may be useful include:

  • Trestles and saw horses
  • Plywood and timber
  • Safety equipment and PPE
  • Steel stock
  • Hardware, fasteners and fixings
  • Power tools
  • Hand tools
  • Workshop benches and worktables
  • Clamps and woodworking equipment
  • Welding equipment and accessories
  • Electrical leads and workshop consumables
  • Trolleys and material handling equipment

If you have something not listed above that may be of use, we would still love to hear from you.

Please contact our Head of Production before delivering any items, so we can coordinate what is most needed and manage storage and logistics effectively.
