“I was a plumber for four years, and I like to think that’s not the worst apprenticeship for an exorcist”

A backyard exorcism in rural Victoria gone wrong.

Pierce is convinced his wife is possessed by the devil. He enlists the help of his neighbour Anna and former plumber Max to expel the demons from his darling Else. You see, Else has always been a little left of centre. Pierce would say even a little difficult. But when proceedings go fatally wrong, they passionately wait for her miraculous resurrection.

Based on a tragic true story from mid-nineties country Victoria, Furious Mattress asks – under the guise of “doing right”, what level of evil is the human spirit capable of?

Shortlisted for three Premier’s literary awards and nominated for an AWGIE in the same year, Melissa Reeves’ hilariously surreal four-hander finally makes its Sydney premiere.

Furious Mattress is The Exorcist meets Promising Young Woman so grab some holy water and your nearest voodoo doll for this year’s most entertaining exorcism.
