Zara Stanton

Zara holds a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she studied classical voice and music education. She has her A.Mus.A. qualification in both voice and piano, and is an accomplished music director, performer, accompanist, vocal coach, arranger and music educator.

Most recently, Zara was Music Director for the Hayes Theatre Co. production of H.M.S. Pinafore, earning a Sydney Theatre Award nomination for her work on the show.

Other credits as Music Director include If/Then (Theatre & Company) and CARRIE: The Musical (Louis Ellis Productions), and Zara has provided music direction and accompaniment for a range of independent cabaret performances around Sydney, including for Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s Bloom Festival.

Zara has been involved in the development of a number of new Australian musicals, including music direction for Jack of Clubs (The Joan) and Bakery Hill: An Australian Rebellion (Yellow Line Theatre), for which she also provided vocal arrangements.

As a performer, Zara has most recently appeared in The Colour Orange, an award-winning, satirical Australian musical about Pauline Hanson, which played at the Sydney Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Sydney Comedy Festivals.

Zara is incredibly passionate about promoting diversity and representation in musical theatre, particularly for performers of Asian heritage and for female musicians, music directors and creatives.  She is stoked to be making her Belvoir debut with the incredible FANGIRLS team!
