Last week Counting & Cracking received the Victorian Prize for Literature and Prize for Drama in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards. It’s a wonderful recognition of this epic work by by S. Shakthidharan and Eamon Flack, one that was five years in the making. It is only the second time a play has won both the drama award and Victorian Prize for Literature, after Leah Purcell was awarded both in 2017 for her stage ­adaptation of The Drover’s Wife, another Belvoir production.
