Nominations for the 2013 Helpmann Awards have been announced, with Belvoir productions Medea, Death of a Salesman, Forget Me Not and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof well represented in the Industry and Theatre categories.

Medea, in association with the Australian Theatre for Young People, has been nominated for Best New Australian Work (Industry category) and Best Play (Theatre category). Anne-Louise Sarks, new resident director at Belvoir, has also been nominated for Best Direction of a Play for the production.

Going head-to-head with Medea for the Best Play Award is Simon Stone’s highly acclaimed production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, also at Belvoir. Lead actor Colin Friels is nominated for Best Male Actor for his role, with fellow cast member Patrick Brammall also up for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play.

Nominated alongside Colin Friels for Best Male Actor Award is Colin Moody, for his role in Belvoir’s Forget Me Not, while Medea’s Rory Potter is up against Patrick Brammall for the Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role Award.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’s Lynette Curran is nominated for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role.
