Emma Valente

Emma is a freelance director, dramaturg, lighting designer and video designer. She is the Co-Artistic Director of feminist theatre company THE RABBLE. For Queensland Theatre Emma has designed: Fangirls and Hedda. For MTC she has worked on Hungry GhostsLilith: the Jungle GirlThe Golden DragonStory of O (NEON), Twin (NEON), Calamity! (NEON) and as a teaching artist for In And Out of Worlds a collaboration between MTC Education and DECV. For STC: How to Rule The World, Testament of Mary and Manna. For The Malthouse:  My Dearworthy Darling, Little EmperorsRevolt She Said. Revolt Again. For Belvoir : FangirlsWizard of Oz. For THE RABBLE Emma has lit and directed: My Dearworthy Darling, UnwomanLoneJoanCain and AbelIn The Bleak MidwinterDeathly/ Death/ DeadFrankensteinRoom of RegretStory of OSpecialThe Bedroom ProjectSalome and Cageling and is currently working on NightUlysses and  Unwoman Part I & III. Emma’s other lighting design credits include : Exodus Part I (Fraught Outfit); Podium Dance (Arts House); More Female Parts (Arts Centre Melbourne); Bright World (Theatre Works, Arthur) When the Pictures Came (Terrapin Puppet Theatre); Here (Women’s Circus); Bare Witness (La Mama); For a Better World (Griffin Theatre); and The Lower Depths (Ariette Taylor). Emma has received Creative Victoria’s Creators Fund Fellowship and a Sidney Myer Fellowship.
