Elena Carapetis

Elena is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the former Resident Artist at State Theatre Company South Australia. She is soon to appear in Belvoir’s co-production of Dance Nation with State Theatre Company South Australia. For Belvoir, she has previously performed in Mike Leigh’s Greek Tragedy. Other theatre credits include A View from the Bridge, That Eye The Sky, After Dinner, Vale, Macbeth (STCSA), Rumpelstiltskin (Windmill Theatre), Machu Picchu (Sydney Theatre Company), Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, Othello, Features of Blown Youth, Uncle Vanya, Hot Fudge, Central Park West, The Things We Do For Love, The Comedy of Errors (Bell Shakespeare) and Between Two Waves (2014 Umbrella production). Other theatre credits include 4.48 Psychosis, this uncharted hour (Brink Productions), Translations, Assassins (Flying Penguin) and Deep Suburbia (Sydney Theatre Company). In 2013, Elena won a Sydney Theatre Award for her work in Lachlan Philpott’s Truck Stop (Q Theatre). Elena’s TV credits include The Hunting, Heartbreak High, Marking Time, Blue Heelers, Water Rats, All Saints and Murder Call. Her feature film credits include Dead Europe, One Eyed Girl, Burning Man, Look Both Ways and Bad Blood. As a playwright, her writing credits for State Theatre Company include The Gods Of Strangers, Gorgon and Sista Girl (co-written with Alexis West). She was also the adapting playwright for State Theatre Company’s 2017 production of A Doll’s House. Other writing credits include The Good Son and Helen Back. She made her directorial debut in 2019 with State Theatre Company’s End of the Rainbow. Elena is a proud member of Actors’ Equity.
