WHY MAKE A PLEDGE?
For over 15 years, Belvoir has run one of Australia’s largest and pre-eminent theatre participation programs for young people – No Barriers.
This inspiring program removes the barriers that make it difficult for students to experience, engage and enjoy theatre by providing free or subsidised tickets and syllabus-aligned workshops across schools in NSW. Research shows that exposure to the arts results in higher overall academic results, improved social skills, increased empathy, and a greater sense of self-worth and place in the world. Over the last 15 years, Belvoir has provided access to an estimated 100,000+ students.
Belvoir is uniquely positioned to deliver No Barriers. With over 15 years of experience delivering our programs, we have developed a strong network of schools and teachers as well as a compelling program tied to the NSW curriculum.
Our focus has and will continue to be low advantage schools, particularly those in Western Sydney and regional NSW. We aspire to give young people the transformative experience of theatre.
Belvoir relies on individual donations to keep these activities going, as we do not receive any government funding for this program.
