Amber McMahon

Amber trained at Flinders University Drama Centre and was a recipient of the Adele Koh Scholarship, studying at the Stella Adler Company and SITI Company in New York. For Belvoir Amber has appeared in Atlantis, Twelfth Night, and Angels in America, as well as Bliss (Malthouse / Belvoir), and she is soon to appear in Belvoir’s co-production of Dance Nation with State Theatre Company South Australia. She most recently performed in Banging Denmark (STC), Small Mouth Sounds (Darlinghurst), and The Appleton Ladies Potato Race (Ensemble). Earlier in the year she completed her third season of North by Northwest (Kay & McLean Productions) at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide and Brisbane QPAC. Previous work includes Accidental Death of An Anarchist (STC), The Popular Mechanicals (STC / STCSA), and four seasons of Picnic at Hanging Rock (Malthouse) including two seasons at Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and Barbican London. Amber’s screen credits include the award-winning feature film Girl Asleep, for which she was nominated for Australian Film Critics Association’s 2017 Best Supporting Actress Award, and the SBS mini-series The Hunting. She was also an original member of STC’s Actors Company appearing in Benedict Andrews’ The War of the Roses, Season at Sarsaparilla and Barrie Kosky’s The Lost Echo. She has won two Helpmann Awards, including two individual awards for the category of Best Female in a Supporting Role for Girl Asleep – 2017 (Belvoir / Windmill Theatre) and School Dance – 2013 (Windmill Theatre).
