"...a beautifully crafted and wonderfully performed piece of autobiographical theatre... David Page is extraordinary." The Sydney Morning Herald, 11.09.04
Three great indigenous men gather to tell their stories in Life Times Three: David Page, Noel Tovey and David Gulpilil. The first story in this mini-season of three plays is told by David Page, composer, drag artiste and now a senior collaborator with Bangarra Dance.
A co-production with the 2004 Energex Brisbane Festival.

This is an exuberant and moving story of how the eighth child in a family of twelve, living in a Mt Gravatt housing commission estate, became Australia's answer to Michael Jackson. Little Davy Page was an all-singing, all-dancing sensation; at a tender age he appeared on Countdown and The Paul Hogan Show and his singles twice made it to the Top Ten until his voice broke. Then in his teenage years there were questions of sexuality until finally he became a composer for such groups as Bangarra.
This self portrait is a glorious mixture of story telling, music, Countdown days, home movies and drag. Outrageous, cheeky and a wellspring of beautiful energy, David (nicknamed Dubboo by his family) has collaborated with Louis Nowra in writing his story, and he's directed by his little brother, Stephen.
Page 8 will also be performed at the Energex Brisbane Festival.
