"Kate Gaul's production is beautifully cast and paced. The Irish accents are intelligible and avoid caricature, and performances are carefully constructed and intelligent. Bowers and Austin are a wonderful study in physical and emotional contrasts." The Sydney Morning Herald, 27.6.06

"Directed with panache and compassion... Duck is funny, violent, sad, unexpected, contradictory and engrossing."
The Sunday Telegraph, 2.7.06

Written by
Stella Feehily

Directed by
Kate Gaul

With
Ben Adam, Holly Austin, Candy Bowers, Terry Brady and Lee Jones

Cat has big feet so her boyfriend calls her Duck.

Cat has a smart best-friend with a short temper, a middle-aged lover who writes novels, a boyfriend with a nightclub, a gun and some unfinished business…

Duck is an adrenaline rush, a hyperventilating hymn to the age of the angry young woman. Duck breathtakingly expresses a sense of lives led in a restless struggle against smothering boredom and asks how a bright, uneducated girl might escape an oppressive home, a dead-end job and deadbeat relationships in search of a brighter future.

“An exhilarating piece of theatre… the sheer life-enhancing energy of the writing”
The Evening Standard (UK)

“Duck is noisy, sexy, funny and violent. Feehily writes with confidence and an acute ear for dialogue” The Sunday Herald (UK)

Warning: This production of Duck contains nudity, course language and cigarette smoking.
